A small original version of the famous poster - a coloured lithograph signed in the block ‘MDENIS’, 1892, Paris, reproduced in the French magazine ‘Le Courrier Français’ Denis was an important painter within the circle of Nabis, neo-impressionist. Influenced by Gaugin, his works were exhibited in the Pavillon de Mersan 1912. Ref.PD         Paul Delvaux (1897-1994): Two demure girls and the magic of grapes

This original lithograph by Belgian Paul Delvaux (1897-1994)  to mark  the 1985 vintage of the Château Mouton Rothschild is included, simply for its surrealistic appeal. Indeed, he exhibited at the International Surrealistic Exhibition in Paris (1938). The label on the back gives full details of the importance of the works of this artist. Note that the Champagne labels of Baron Philippe Rothschild are highly collectable. Dignimont is best known for his erotic illustrations. This one is a lithograph from the above limited edition novel by Pierre Louÿs, 1947. The lithograph was produced by the specialist Parisian printing house Mourlot Frères. Size of print: 14cm x 19cm  Size of frame: 19cm x 24cm  Frame: fine original light brown with with gilding

Ref.AED-A     Adrien Etienne Drian (1985-1961):  La Mariée de l’avenir  (bride of the future)

Drian can be compared to Jean-Gabriel Domergue.

A strong and spectacular design by this well-known illustrator of female beauty. Drian was also a costume designer. Here the costume design is by the leading costume designer of the period: Paul Poiret. This pochoir was designed by Drian for Gazette du Bon Ton, 1922, plate 22. (Reference: page 70 of Art Deco Fashion by Martin Battersby, Academy Editions, London ). Size of pochoir: 19cm x 24cm  Size of the frame: 26cm x 31cm  Frame: dark green lacquered of around 1920, ripple-effect glass.

This alluring pochoir shows Drian’s ease in adopting different styles. It was published as plate 11 of The Gazette du Bon Ton in October 1913.
