Ref. AP-52 Original English Art Photograph – around 1860 in its original frame

This restful original and artistic photograph (not a reprint), possibly of a London park scenery or taken along the Thames (not a reprint), in its original oval frame, shows a magnificently captured cloudy sky mirrored on the water divided by a footbridge, with a number of rowing boats. A lonely figure is walking along the straight path on the left of the photograph. Note also the highlighted tree trunks on the right side reverberating on the water. A few people are standing by the waterfront. In the middle background there are buildings from the hilltop to the embankment. Is this master shot taken on Hampstead Heath or somewhere along the Thames? There is no indication who the photographer was. The photo does not sufficiently reflect the details in the background (buildings).

A good reference work in connection with  photographs of this period  is: “Photography – History of an Art” by Jan-Luc Daval, SKIRA , 1982.

This unique photograph (Hampstead Heath, London) is offered in excellent condition (minor old damp marks on the right hand side are hardly visible). A new one, matching the colour of water and sky, has replaced the old mount. The original oval frame for this photograph has been reconditioned. Size of  photograph: 20 cm x 25 cm – Size of  frame: 36cm x 44cm. The photograph does not reflect the detailed background of houses surrounding the pond.
